For list of visits between India and Hungary, please click Visits .The most recent VVIP visit has been the visit of Hungarian Prime Minister Mr Ferenc Gyurcsany visited India from 16-19 January 2008.
PM Gyurcsany, accompanied by his spouse, Dr. Klára Dobrev, paid a state visit to India from 16-19 January 2008. During the visit, both sides held official talks on bilateral, regional and global issues of mutual concern. PM Gyurcsany called on President of India, and met with EAM, Chairperson of UPA, and Leader of Opposition, Minister of Commerce and Industry and Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas. Agriculture Minister Josef Graz also accompanied the delegation and met his counterparts in India. A joint statement was issued during the visit.
During the visit the following agreements were signed in the presence of both the leaders:
- Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the field of Health and Medicine.
- Agreement for Cooperation in Agriculture, Plant Quarantine and Protection and Animal Husbandry.
- Letter of Intent on the Establishment of an India-Hungary Strategic Research Fund.
- Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between ONGC Videsh and MOL
- MOU between Bharat Electronics Ltd and M/s Bonn Hungary for Joint Development of Low Noise Amplifiers and Integrated Receivers for 3D Tactical Control Radar
- MOU between Bharat Electronics Ltd and M/s CARINEX for Joint Development of TDM Analyser/De-Multiplexer
- MOU between Bharat Electronics Ltd and M/s ERIDEIL for TOT for Universal Systems for VSAT Signal Monitoring
PM Gyurcsány also addressed the business forums of FICCI and CII, where Hungary was a special guest. The delegation also visited Infosys and BioCon in Bangalore. During the visit, it was announced that India’s Apollo Tyres would set up a factory in Hungary with a € 200 million investment. Apollo Tyres will build a manufacturing unit on 45 hectares at the Gyöngyös industrial park, creating 900 jobs.
